Thornton Oaks Cultural Highlights

Mid Coast Maine yields a bounty of cultural opportunities: symphony orchestras, theater companies, five-star restaurants, seasonal festivals and much more. Some of the choicest events are right here in Brunswick, including the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Maine State Music Theater.

There’s hardly a resident who hasn’t attended some sporting or cultural event on the bustling Bowdoin College campus. Many of our residents audit classes—there’s no charge. And quite a few take advantage of free swim time at the Bowdoin pool.

The Thornton Oaks shuttle transports season ticket holders to nearby Portland for performances at Portland Stage, the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Portland Concert Association. The shuttle also makes trips to botanical gardens, lunch spots and attractions around Maine and even to Boston, where the Museum of Fine Arts is a popular destination.
